FAQs

Why would I choose independent therapy?

Independent therapists have the same basic training and qualification as NHS therapists and will often offer the similar therapy, however independent therapists can generally offer appointments quicker and can be more flexible in terms of what they offer and when.

How often will my child be seen?

This varies depending on your child’s needs. An initial assessment will always be made first which will last up to 60 minutes and then we may see a child for regular individual sessions either weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

What will I have to do as a parent?

During the initial assessment we will require as much background information as possible to help with the assessment.

We will give you ideas of activities and ways to compliment the therapy at home.

My child is seeing an NHS Therapist, can you see them too?

Yes a child can have both an NHS therapist and an independent therapist at the same time.

How long do we have to wait to be seen?

Usually your child is seen within 2 weeks of the initial contact.

Can therapy be funded by medical insurance?

You should check with your medical insurance company beforehand. We are unable to make any insurance claims to insurance companies on behalf of clients.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No.  Please contact us and we will be happy to arrange your appointment.

How long is each session?

Therapy sessions vary between 45-60 minutes depending on your child's age, and the type of therapy provided.  An assessment session lasts up to 60 minutes. A session involves both direct therapy and parent liaison following the therapy.

How much do the sessions cost?

Please contact us to discuss fees.

How is payment made?

Parents are directly responsible for payment. Parents will be provided with a receipt following payment. Reports will only be issued after full payment is received. Assessment invoices are payable in advance of the appointment. If payment has not been received within 2 hour of the assessment, the appointment will be cancelled. All other invoices are payable on departure of the therapy session. Payment can be made in cash or card payment.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please notify the appointments team promptly if you wish to cancel or change any appointments no later than 24 hours before the appointment. The full fee is payable for sessions cancelled on shorter notice than this.
